These set of illustrations were made to pictorially show the classic pantry essentials in a South Asian kitchen. From Coconut to Tamarind to Curry Leaves, I dove into researching which ingredient & which variant is used the most in our kitchens and then studied how the old Indian school posters were made. While those posters were made by hand painting or riso-printed, I got on to depicting that style in digital illustration form.

Each illustration made by hand and matching the flat shading of the original inspiration with a tight color palette to keep the overall composition cohesive.
